Foreclosed Spaces

All spaces retain the imprints of the people who once occupied them long after the people have moved on.

This is true of rooms and ruins above and under the ground, of large and small spaces.

You just have to know how to photograph them.

Wonderful photo, Billy. Amazing that it actually comes through the internet. I won't ask how you did it. Some things are better left a mystery perhaps.

I have this weird thing that happens to me whenever I sleep in a hotel. The first night or two in a strange place or hotel, I dream about people, places and things that have absolutely nothing to do with my life. I call it "dreaming other people's dreams."

That's a wonderful idea, girl. I'll be watching for it next time I'm sleeping in a strange place.

Okay, here's the part I left out. I wrote this last night and shut down my computer. I thought I’d think about whether I should post it or not. My husband was already asleep when I wrote it. As I was watching David Letterman, he wakes up for a second and leans over and mumbles “hey dream girl” and in this half asleep state, starts singing that 50's song with the refrain, Dream, dream, dream, dream ......

You probably need to take a chicken and some holy water to that house. The bedroom anyway.

A long time ago, I had a recurring dream for over a year. I dreamed I lived on another planet. A medieval place with swords. I was some kind of prince, trying to regain my throne. Had a whole family. Wife, kids. Episodic adventures. Had those dreams a couple of times a week. Then they went away.

Okay, Billy, this is really getting weird. I just received an e-mail from an old friend who says to me:

" You popped into my dream the other night—you had strangely become the mother of my friend Gia’s 2 year old. I was babysitting. That’s all I remember."

One more and I'm walking myself over to the pysch ward!
